Firstly, It Is Important To Note That The Imams (AS) Have Unequivocally Declared Chess To Be Forbidden. As Shia Muslims, We Should Act As Our Imaam (AS) Wants Us To
Secondly, In Those Times, Chess Was Often Played By The Elite And Cruel Rulers. It Was A Practice Associated With Oppressive Kings And Their Emirs, Whereas True Believers Always Distance Themselves From Frivolous Activities
Thirdly, While Chess Is An Intellectual Game, There Are Many Other Games That Also Stimulate Intelligence. If The Goal Is To Gain Benefit, Chess May Enhance Your IQ In This World, But It Offers No Benefits In The Hereafter. Furthermore, If We Are Talking About Benefits, Consuming Alcohol In Moderation Can Also Provide Some Benefits, As Can Eating Pork Because It Contains Protein, Vitamins Such As B1, B3, B6, And B12, Minerals Like Iron, Zinc, And Selenium.
Almost Every Scholar Gives A Fatwa Declaring Chess As Haram, And Almost All Scholars Have A Consensus On This Matter That Regardless Of Whether Chess Is Played For Fun Or Without Betting. (Excluding Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Who Considers Chess Halal If Not Played With Betting, But This Is His Opinion And Contradicts The Hadiths And The Opinions Of Most Scholars, Including Sayyed Ali Sistani)
