See lessI would also only distance myself from them if they are friends, because narrations have told us we are only allowed to not speak to our family members for 3 days. As for friends, it is important to pick the right friends. So, if you feel like they take you away from the religion, I would distance myself from them.

No, it is not haram. I believe one of the Sunni schools of thought believe it is haram, but not the Twelver Shia.

Furthermore, I have heard of and watched videos of Muhammad Hijab and I strongly encourage you to find another scholar. I recommend channels such as Thaqlayn, Imam Hussain TV 3, as well as Al-Rasoul Islamic Society.
One last way to tackle this is through knowing that the Sahaba memorised the Holy Quran and made sure it is not lost. And if you actually go to Masjid Al-Nabawi, you will a lot of Quran teachers. These teachers actually have a piece of paper in which they earn after they memorise the Quran and their 7 ways of reciting the Holy Book, it starts from them and goes back all the way to the Sahaba.
And lastly, this ‘sheikh’ is a kafir. There are multiple clips of him saying he does not go to Mecca to do tawaf, but in Karbala instead. I don’t know how he plans on doing so considering there is a barrier on between the shrine 😂.
I put a video of different things that he has said that has taken him out of the fold of Islam.
Inshallah this helps.
